CODESYS, from the IDE to the virtual PLC, over EmberNET.
Fireball Industries is a CODESYS partner, and CODESYS has approved us as a CODESYS Technology Partner, with the announcement to follow. EmberNET packages the CODESYS runtimes as apps, runs them on the Industrial PC at the plant, and gives your engineers a secure path to them from wherever they work.
A PLC application, downloaded from Austin to a virtual PLC in Cleveland.
On September 29, 2026, an engineer in Austin, Texas opened the project in the CODESYS IDE (V3.5 SP22 Patch 2) and downloaded the PLC application to a virtual PLC on an Industrial PC in Cleveland, Ohio. The virtual PLC runs CODESYS Control for Linux ARM64 SL in a container on the Industrial PC, and the IDE reached it at the node’s EmberNET address.
The project is deployed with the client today. Nothing on the plant network was opened to make it happen, and nobody set up a VPN.
Remote commissioning and support without the security trade-off. Your engineers work from wherever they are, and your controllers stay invisible to everyone else.
A CODESYS download from Austin, Texas to a virtual PLC in Cleveland, Ohio
- 01 Build
The engineer builds the project in the CODESYS IDE in Austin. Zero errors.
- 02 Connect
The IDE reaches the Cleveland node at its EmberNET address. No VPN, and no inbound port opened at the plant.
- 03 Download
The PLC application goes down to the virtual PLC on the Industrial PC: CODESYS Control for Linux ARM64 SL.
- 04 Run
The application runs on the client’s floor, and the project is deployed there today.
An animation of what happened. The route, the software and the result are real; the map is schematic and the timing is not to scale. About 1,200 miles, and nothing on the plant network was exposed to get there.
The CODESYS runtimes, ready to deploy.
Each runtime is an App Store app. Choose the Industrial PC it runs on, and EmberNET handles the rest. The CODESYS IDE itself can run in a Windows 11 IoT virtual machine hosted on the platform, next to the controllers it programs.
CODESYS Control for Linux SL
The PLC runtime on the Industrial PC itself, on x86-64 or ARM64. The workhorse for machine and line control.
CODESYS Virtual Control for Linux SL
The PLC runtime as a virtual controller, so several independent PLCs can share one Industrial PC.
CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL
The runtime for Raspberry Pi hardware, for small cells, test benches and training rigs.
CODESYS Edge Gateway for Linux
The gateway that connects the CODESYS IDE to controllers on the plant network.
CODESYS Virtual Safe Control SL
CODESYS’s safety runtime for virtualized control, deployed together with its Safe Time Provider.
CODESYS Automation Server
Device and project management for a fleet of controllers. CODESYS provided it to Fireball Industries to deploy on EmberNET.
CODESYS runtimes are licensed by CODESYS. Talk to us about licensing for your deployment.
What EmberNET adds to a CODESYS deployment.
- 01
Deploy the runtime like any other app
Every CODESYS runtime is packaged for the EmberNET App Store. Pick the Industrial PC, deploy, and the runtime comes up as a managed app that EmberNET restarts, updates and monitors for you.
- 02
Reach it by identity, not by opening ports
Engineers connect the CODESYS IDE to the runtime over EmberFLUX, the zero-trust overlay. There is no VPN to configure and no inbound port opened on the plant network.
- 03
Real-time when the task needs it
Switch on the EmberRTOS real-time kernel for control workloads. We measured a 23 µs worst-case wake-up over a 24 hour soak, well inside a PLC task’s budget.
- 04
Watch it with everything else
The runtime shows up in EmberCORE next to every other app on the node, with the same role-based access and audit trail.
